Who we are
zoevo is an Android app for daily and weekly goals, focus sessions, counters, stopwatches and routines. It is published by A51. This policy covers the zoevo app and this website, zoevo.io; “we” means A51. For any question about it, write to hi@zoevo.io.
Using zoevo without an account
zoevo needs no account. Until you sign in (the app calls this guest mode), everything you create is kept in the app’s private storage on your phone:
- your sources (focus sessions, counters and stopwatches), your daily and weekly goals and your routines, with the names, icons, colours, targets, planned weekdays and reminder times you give them;
- your history: what you log each day, which days were planned, skipped or missed, and the routines you completed;
- your settings, and, if you start the free trial, an encoded record of its start and end dates so it can’t be started again on that phone.
None of this is sent to us. Reminders, the notifications for running timers and the home-screen widget all work on the phone itself. Uninstalling zoevo removes its data from the phone, though a copy may remain in your Android device backup (see below).
Android device backup
zoevo doesn’t switch off Android’s own app backup. If backup is turned on for your phone, Android may include zoevo’s on-device data (your guest data, the trial record and the offline copy of synced data) in the backup it keeps in your Google account, and restore it when you install zoevo again. That backup is run by Android and Google, not by us, and we can’t see it. You can turn it off or delete it in your phone’s Google backup settings.
Signing in with Google
Signing in is optional. It backs up your data and keeps it in sync across your devices.
What your Google account shares
zoevo uses Google Sign-In with Firebase Authentication. Google passes on your email address, your name, a link to your profile picture and your Google account ID. Firebase keeps them with a random zoevo user ID and the dates the account was created and last signed in. The app shows your name and email on its Account screen and keeps a small copy of your profile picture on the phone, so it still appears offline; that copy is removed when you sign out. We never see your Google password.
What your account stores
While you are signed in, your data is saved in Google Cloud Firestore under your user ID instead of only on the phone:
- Sources: focus sessions, counters and stopwatches with their name, icon, colour, settings such as session length, archive history, and the live state of a running stopwatch so your other devices can show it.
- Goals: daily and weekly goals with the source they count, the Aim (minimum) or Cap (maximum) target, any stretch goal, planned weekdays, reminder time and whether the reminder is on.
- Routines: their activities, order and durations, planned weekdays and reminder time.
- History: the values logged for each source per day (focus sessions, counts, stopwatch time), each day’s plan with skipped and missed marks, and every completed routine run with its time and duration.
- Settings: the day your planning week starts, the plan-the-week reminder, and internal markers such as when your weekly plans were last rolled forward.
- zoevo+ status: see section 04.
If your account is still empty when you first sign in, the data you created as a guest is moved into it. Firestore also keeps a copy on the phone, so zoevo works offline and syncs when you are back online.

What we use it for
Only to run zoevo: to show your goals, streaks and statistics, to sync and restore them, and to know whether zoevo+ is active. We don’t use your data for advertising or profiling, and we don’t sell it.
What we don’t collect
No location, contacts, photos or files, no camera or microphone, and no advertising ID. zoevo doesn’t look at other apps on your phone.
zoevo+, the trial and promo codes
- Subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play, and we never see your payment details. Buying needs you to be signed in. The app hands your zoevo user ID to Google Play with the purchase so it can be matched to your account, and saves in your account where zoevo+ comes from, the plan (monthly or yearly), the purchase and expiry dates, whether it renews, and the purchase token Google Play issues.
- The 14-day free trial starts in the app and needs no account. Your phone keeps an encoded record of its start and end so it runs once per device. If you are signed in, your account also notes that the trial was used and when it started.
- Promo codes need you to be signed in. Redeeming one saves the code, when you redeemed it and how many days it grants under your user ID, together with the zoevo+ status it gives you.
Services we rely on
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore): sign-in and your synced data, used only once you sign in.
- Google Sign-In: signing in with your Google account.
- Google Play: installing zoevo and billing zoevo+.
- Android backup (Google): if you have device backup turned on, Android may back up zoevo’s on-device data to your Google account (see section 02).
- Google Fonts: zoevo downloads its typefaces (Roboto and Azeret Mono) from Google’s font servers the first time it needs them and keeps them on the phone. Like any download, this shows Google your IP address; none of your data goes with it.
- GitHub Pages: hosts this website.
When the app connects to these services, their servers see your device’s IP address, as with any internet connection. Google handles data under the Google Privacy Policy. We share your data with no one else, and we don’t sell it.
No ads, no analytics, no tracking
zoevo contains no advertising, no analytics (neither Firebase Analytics nor Google Analytics), no crash reporting and no third-party tracking, and it doesn’t read your advertising ID. How you use the app is not measured or reported.
This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from other servers. GitHub, which hosts it, logs visitors’ IP addresses for security, as web hosts do.
Permissions
- Notifications: reminders for goals, routines and planning your week, and the pause and continue controls for running focus sessions and stopwatches.
- Alarms and reminders (exact alarms): so a focus session or timer ends right on time.
- Run at startup: to restore scheduled reminders after your phone restarts.
zoevo asks for no location, contacts, camera, microphone or storage access. It uses the internet for sign-in, sync, purchases and fonts, and checks whether you are online before deleting synced data.
Security
Synced data is encrypted on its way to Google (HTTPS), and Google stores it encrypted. The database rules let a signed-in user read and write only their own records. Guest data lives in the app’s private storage, which other apps can’t read.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
Your data is kept for as long as you use zoevo: on the phone until you delete it or uninstall the app, and in your account until you delete it or the account. A copy in your Android device backup, if you use one, is kept and deleted by Google according to your backup settings.
In the app, Account › Data deletion offers Delete timeline, Delete all data and Delete account. The Data deletion page explains each one, and how to ask us by email instead.
Delete account removes your synced data and your sign-in. It doesn’t cancel a Google Play subscription: cancel that in the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions.
Requests by email are completed within 5 business days. Backups may be kept securely for up to 365 days for operational reasons.
User groups
Everyone is treated the same. We don’t ask for your age, and we don’t collect different data or apply different rules for different groups of users.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data held in your account, ask us to correct it, or have it deleted, either yourself in the app or by writing to hi@zoevo.io. Depending on where you live, data-protection law may give you further rights, and we will honour them.
